Day Monday - Sydney?!?

I finally have a campervan! Finally got through after much blood sweat and tears (nearly!) this morning, the only downside was that I had to come back to the outskirts of Sydney  to collect it which meant a 3 hour train journey. This time however, there was enough light outside for me to see the countryside as we passed, and my feeling of awe increases everytime i see more of the country. I can really understand what made them want to settle here when they came 200 years ago, and it seems that in some  places very little has changed. There is still vast amounts of trees and water and very little sign of habitation in places. The train cuttings are still rougly hewn rock, and the metal work looks like the orignals. It makes me a bit worried travelling by train, but they seem to hold together just about and it may not be fast but its very little effort. I finally made it to the rental office at 2pm, and was away by 3 to head back up the coast. Driving the 2/3 berth camper is just like being back behind the wheel of the minibusses i miss so much and its good as well to be driving a manual instead of automatic. I thought i had better stop to pick up some provisions, and probably lost another hour trying to find a way into the shopping centre carpark that didnt have a 2m height restriction. When I finally found my way in, i had a very limited number of spaces to choose from. Everyone had parked their tiny short cars, and for a while it was me and another van circling like sharks for a space. The other guy gave up, and within seconds of him leaving the carpark, a couple got back to their car with 2 shopping bags and drove away. Grrr... Now i just had to hold up the entire flow of traffic as i manouvered into the space, with steel girders on one side and a car the other, i still hadn't learnt how long the van was or how much turning space it needed. But before long i had successfully abandoned it at a ahem...slight... angle.

With food loaded up I hit the roads again, eager to get out of the city limits before the traffic built up. No such luck tho, so I decided to stop at a maccas to upload some photos and charge up the laptop battery. If im staying in the campervan tonight then there will be no electricity, so I need to make the most of it.

Now to discover a route up the country, oh yeah and work out how to get back to Gold Coast Airport on Monday morning for my flight!!!
